Manassas Park High School Brian Crosson

Population: ~11, % Non-Hispanic whites 11.7% African-American 6.1% Asian 28.7% Hispanic Total Area: 2.5 square miles

Four schools: Cougar Elementary: PreK-2 Manassas Park Elementary: 3-5 Manassas Park Middle: 6-8 Manassas Park High School: 9-12

~ 740 students Principal Assistant Principal Director of Student Activities 45 full-time teachers 3 part-time teachers 2 guidance counselors All major sports (usually JV and Varsity)

Through a wide variety of clubs, honor societies, sports teams, and arts organizations, Manassas Park High School students are very active in the community. Their efforts are generally directed to one of three goals:  Community Service  Fund Raising for a Charitable Cause  Fund Raising to support School Activities

Here are some of the activities that MPHS students participate in: Food Drives Toy Drives Clothing Drives Supply Drives Blood Drives Relay for Life March of Dimes Locks of Love Reading to Kids School beautification Animal adoptions Read Across America “Be a Santa to a Senior”

 Beta Club  SCA  Sports Teams  Community Service “Class”

Parent involvement at Manassas Park High School is modest but meaningful. Parents can contribute their time and efforts to helping raise funds for sports teams. Parents can also join the Manassas Park PTSO to offer support to school activity.

Manassas Park High School has relationships with: Chick-Fil-A Wal-Mart Metro Sign and Design Lockheed Martin Crossroads Counseling Center New Horizons Counseling Lion’s Club Rotary Club Chamber of Commerce Road Dawgs Camp 4 Alarm

Manassas Park students contribute to these businesses in several ways.  Advertising (signs, yearbook, programs)  Manual labor  Clerical work

Parent Involvement is modest at best, especially from the ESL community. School could benefit from a full-time community outreach coordinator. Because we are so small, we remain relatively unknown in the greater community. Advertising for school events could be more aggressive.
