Test Taking Tips Carefully read the instructions on the cover of the test booklet. Read the directions for each test carefully. Read each question carefully. Pace yourself—don't spend too much time on a single passage or question. Pay attention to the announcement of five minutes remaining on each test.

Test Taking Tips Use a soft lead No. 2 pencil with a good eraser. Do not use a mechanical pencil or ink pen; if you do, your answer document cannot be scored accurately. Answer the easy questions first, then go back and answer the more difficult ones if you have time remaining on that test. On difficult questions, eliminate as many incorrect answers as you can, then make an educated guess among those remaining.

ANSWER. EVERY. QUESTION. *No penalty for guessing* Your scores on the multiple-choice tests are based on the number of questions you answer correctly.

Test Taking Tips If you complete a test before time is called, recheck your work on that test. Mark your answers properly. Erase any mark completely and cleanly without smudging. Do not mark or alter any ovals on a test or continue writing the essay after time has been called. If you do, you will be dismissed and your answer document will not be scored.

Test Anxiety PLAN – Have a Study Plan and Stick to it Write it down Break test into pieces Do some prep every day Study at the same time and place Set goals and reward yourself Study with others

Test Anxiety Prepare Positively Talk positively to yourself Think positively about yourself Act positively toward yourself Put away negative thoughts Release Stress with Physical Exercise Practice Being Calm – Learn to Mentally and Physically Relax

Test Anxiety PREPARE Know what to bring Know where to go Sleep well Get there early Watch you diet Dress comfortably PAUSE Release physical and mental anxiety PRESS ON Concentrate on the current item. One at a time PROUDLY DEPART Know you have done your best PERSPECTIVE Just one test. Can retest. Always take your best score

Test Day Checklist You need both a printed copy of your ticket and acceptable photo ID to test. Report to your assigned test center by the Reporting Time (8:00 a.m.) listed on your ticket. You will NOT be admitted to test if you are late. A short break is scheduled after the first two tests. You will not be allowed to use cell phones or any electronic devices during the break, and you may not eat or drink anything in the test room. Students taking the ACT (No Writing) with standard time are normally dismissed about 12:15 p.m.; students taking the ACT Plus Writing are normally dismissed about 1:00 p.m.

Calculators You may use a permitted calculator on the Mathematics Test only. Some models and features are prohibited. You are responsible for knowing if your calculator is acceptable and bringing it to the test center. The following rules also apply to using your calculator: you may use it only during the Mathematics Test; you may use your backup calculator only after it has been checked by a member of the testing staff; you may not share your calculator; and you may not store test materials in your calculator's memory If your calculator has characters one inch high or larger, or a raised display, testing staff may seat you where no other examinee can see your calculator.
