 Content Area: Mathematics  Grade Level: 2 nd Grade  Summary: The purpose of this PowerPoint is to have students understand the place value of certain digits in a number.  Learning Objective: Given interactive multiple choice questions about ones, tens, and hundreds place value, the students will be able to identify the place value of a digit with 100% accuracy.  Content Standard : MATH. Content Standard.2.0: Understand that the three digits of a three-digit number represent amounts of hundreds, tens, and ones.  Accomplishment: Understand the place value of a three-digit number. Understand that the place values are ones, tens, and hundreds. Understand place values up to hundreds.

 Our number system is based on 10. Using only 10 symbols.  Ones, tens, and hundreds.  247 can be broken down into =247.

 Place value is useful when pronouncing numbers.  We use the term digit when finding the place value. Example: In 223, the DIGIT 3 is in the ones place.  For where ever that digit stands in a number, it will represent a certain place value.
