Mission statement The mission of the Student Technology Leadership Program (STLP) is to advance the individual capabilities of students; to motivate all students; and to create leadership opportunities through the use of technology.

CAT (Computer and Technology) Club Students, 2 from each homeroom, selected by the teacher help maintain and troubleshoot the classroom computers. Students are also trained to clean computers. IPAD/Computer Lab Techs Students that wanted to become an iPad/Computer Lab Tech had to fill out an application and submit the application online. All students that applied were given a job. These students clean devices and computers. They also place apps into folders on the iPads for easier access.

Leadership Project Connecting the Past with Our Future Students created a brochure using Microsoft Word highlighting the historical highway markers in Simpson county. Students were especially proud of our acceptance for a new historical marker for our school, Lincoln Elementary. Brochures created by students were distributed at the Visitor Center on 1-65 and Franklin-Simpson Archives.

Breakfast Buddies Students work with other students to explain/help with homework and reinforce hard to learn skills and concepts. IPads are often used by students to assist with homework, reading, and math. GT students help with Breakfast Buddies. Any student can visit Breakfast Buddies.

Breakfast Buddies Continued Students created videos to explain “hard” concepts. Videos are located on the school website. Click on a picture to see sample videos we created.

CATS cash store The CATS cash store was created by the PBIS team to help with discipline. Students were able to earn CATS cash by showing Lincoln PRIDE (positive, respect, independent, dedicated, and excellence.) Leadership students were asked to create a spread sheet to keep up with how much money students had to spend and how much the student spent. The leadership team worked at the store, and used the spread sheets to keep up with student purchases.

Student created spreadsheet used by PBIS to use at the CATS cash store.

Going Green Students as Lincoln Elementary are Going Green. Students involved in this project learned about recycling and waste within our own school building. Students focused on recycling paper in the classrooms. They learned that we throw away a great deal of paper!

Photography All students are able to join the Photography club. Students in this club learn how to capture, upload, and manipulate digital pictures. These are a few examples of their work.

ART Club The Art teacher at Lincoln Elementary has an art club that meets after school every Thursday. Students that show talent and interest in the visual arts are asked to become a member. One unit of focus is on digital art. Enjoy a few of the sample projects they have created.

Yearbook Two students from each homeroom that are interested in helping with the yearbook are selected to assist with the production of the yearbook. Yearbook staff take pictures of the students and happenings in their homerooms. Staff also tries to capture exciting moments throughout the school year to include in the final print yearbook. Staff design the official homeroom page for the yearbook using the yearbook software. This is a popular product every year at our school.

Robotics Students that excel in math and science at Lincoln Elementary are asked to participate on the Robotics team. These students meet with faculty and community members from area factories, such as Franklin Precision Industries, to learn about robotics. All students that are interested in trying out robotics are able to explore robotics on Friday mornings. Robotics team members assist with teaching other students about the world of robotics during this time. This year we have added sumobots to our robotics curriculum. The entire school is learning about robotics using Lego Webots. We anticipate this program to grow in the future.

Technology Throughout the School All teachers and students use Edmodo. Students create posters using MacBooks. Students create podcasts using Macbooks. Students learn the basics of using the MacBook and Dell computers for future projects. Students use digital storytelling to study details in writing. On any given day, technology is used throughout the school by all students. Students are learning to create blogs, glogs, voki, PowerPoint, photostory, Webquests using Zunal, movies, and much more. Students are learning to use both Mac and Dell products. Currently, we have several mobile labs including: 2 Mac labs, 1 Dell mini lab, 1 iPad lab, and 1 Lego Webot lab. These labs are checked out daily. Students create glogs.

Future STLP program at Lincoln Elementary School We plan to… Continue growing the program. Get involved with more activities and products at Fall Showcase. Participate in more categories at state. Inspire and teach the community at large about emerging technology trends. Involve more community members and organizations in the STLP program at our school. Create more technology interaction between schools in our district. Develop our Student Technology Leaders to lead the program to the next level.
