Location Rio is placed southeast of Brazil into the tropical climate of Amazon.

History Rio was found on 1st of January 1502 by the Portuguese.The city was a port when, at the end of the 17th century, gold and diamonds were discovered. 1763 It was the capital of the Portuguese colonies till 1808. After this it was the main capital of Portugal and the first European capital outside Europe.
