Remember… A paragraph has ONE main idea!!! All the ideas in the paragraph are directly related to the main idea. A paragraph has a beginning (topic sentence), a middle (supporting sentences), and an end (concluding sentences).

Good Topic Sentence I select the major of physical education because it is a balance of physical activity and health. It is an active major that requires interaction with other people, which I like. By studying physical education I will have knowledge about the human body to improve the quality of life. ______________________ ____________________________________.

Write the Main Idea in a Topic Sentence __________________________________ _____________________________________ The reason that I chose this major is because I like to work with different types of animals. I would like to either specialize in domestic or marine animals. Once I am all done with my major and I receive my degree, I would like to have my own farm. Also, I would like to have my own veterinary practice. All these are my life goals which I would like to achieve.

Logical Progression of Ideas Why did I choose the major of general agronomy? I like the animal and plant. My favorite part is to help animals. The past summer I practiced in a veterinary clinic. That experience was good. My house has a parrot and a dog. When I graduate from college I want to work in the office in the Agriculture Extension Service.

Logical Progression of Ideas My major is agronomy and soils. My favorite part about agriculture is the soils because the best crops come from the better soils. When I graduate from colegio, I want to take a farm with a part of a river because I like to swim. The best soils are interesting to me.

Good Development I chose to study general agriculture because I like plants and different types of soil. I like agriculture because my grandpa and uncle have a farm. I was raised there. My favorite part about agriculture is the adventure of exploring the environment and nature. When I graduate from colegio, I want to be able to apply my knowledge that I am about to learn in my major. It is interesting for me to share direct contact with nature because it is my passion.

Specific Supporting Sentences I chose mechanical engineering as my major because I like the way that this major creates many things. For example, mechanical engineers repair and design industrial machines and machines that we use everyday. I have to study a lot of years to graduate and get a job, but mechanical engineering gives experience and knowledge that I need to create things. …

Specific Supporting Sentences My major is civil engineering. I like my major because design is my passion. One thing that I love in engineering is math. I want to improve the construction and stop deforestation. _______________________ ___________________________________.
