Overview of Key Changes as a Result of Workshop: – Roster Lock April 1 – Expanded Forfeit and Game Cancelation Policies – Focus on Improving Game Scheduling – 8 th Grade Girls to Petition to Play HS Every club should send a representative to this workshop Great opportunity to weigh in on league planning and policy

NCJLA Certified Coaches Recommended by 2011 summer workshop group, and supported by attendees and the board Coach certification data due by Feb. 9 Coaches must wear lanyards with NCJLA Certified Coach card visible at every game, officials will verify

NCJLA Certified Coach Requirements Annually: Background check (depending on service used) US Lacrosse membership One and done: PCA (online or in-person) US Lacrosse Level 1 Online Coaches Code of Conduct Signed Yellow Bar = US Lacrosse Certification Indicating one additional requirement met, the in-person clinic

Background Checks NCJLA prefers NCSI (National Center for Safety Initiatives) NCSI required for US Lacrosse Certification Up to club to determine one year or two year NCSI contract Report EXPIRATION date with NCJLA Certified Coach submissions Other services accepted such as LiveScan, etc… Get started early on this and all coaches requirements

Team Scholarship Program $10,000 in scholarship funds for 2014 season provide: 90% waiver on team reg fees 50% off officials fees per game Priority to teams: Drawing players from underserved/low-income communities From a new NCJLA club Timing: Application posted early October Due early November Notifications Mid November

BAYS Foundation: Fifth Year Bringing Division 1 Men’s Lacrosse to California October 12, 2013 Kezar Stadium SF SF Lacrosse Fall Classic Princeton vs Virginia

BAYS Foundation Tom Mistele and two fellow LAX-rats Created foundation to raise money for underserved youth Sponsor of the San Francisco Fall Lacrosse Classic Inspire youth lacrosse players by watching high level D1 men's lacrosse Entice D1 players to relocate to Bay Area to coach youth SF Classic Non-profit event run by volunteers All proceeds (after event expenses) go to BAYS Foundation grantees Not sustainable without sponsorships, tickets sales and volunteers

BAYS Foundation Harvard, Johns Hopkins, University of Denver, Notre Dame, Brown, UNC, Lehigh, Ohio, Princeton, Virginia $225,000 in grants in first three years: America SCORES Bay Area; East Palo Alto Tennis and Tutoring (EPATT); Girls on the Run Bay Area; Lacrosse for LIFE; Oakland Community Pools Project; Real Options for City Kids (ROCK); and KEEN San Francisco season $10,000 grant to NCJLA - financial aid to boys and girls who would be otherwise unable to participate in youth lacrosse.
