Life Facts  William Golding was born in Cornwall, England on September 19 th 1911.(Biography of William Golding) He grew up in Marlborough, Wiltshire where he attended Marlborough Grammar School as his father was a science master there. (William Golding) In 1903 Golding went to Oxford University. (William Golding)  William Golding was married to Ann Brookfield who was an analytical chemist(Biography of William Golding). They had two children together. (William Golding)  Golding published his first book Poems in 1934.(William Golding) He worked as a schoolmaster until 1940 when he joined the Royal Navy(William Golding). At the end of the war he returned to writing and teaching. (William Golding)  William Golding died of heart failure on June 19 th,1993. (William Golding)
