Other IEEE Sensors Council Conferences IEEE International Symposium on INERTIAL SENSORS and SYSTEMS (ISISS) in Laguna Beach, CA, USA, February, Abstracts submission deadline: 1 September, IEEE World Forum on Internet of Things 2014Seoul, South Korea, in March, Submission deadline: 30 September, Ninth International Conference on Intelligent Sensors, Sensor Networks and Information Processing (ISSNIP) Singapore, April, Abstracts submission deadline: 17 November, Asian Pacific Sensor Conference?

IEEE SENSORS Policies The abstract acceptance ratio target is 45% to 50%. The financial surplus target is at least 20% of total revenue. The IEEE SENSORS Websites will be archived by the Council. The papers for speakers who withdraw after acceptance are removed from the Xplore conference posting. Conference attendance is expected for members of the organizing and technical program committees. 6

Past Conferences: Attendance 7

Future Conferences: Site Selection Criteria: The site must -have easy international air access, -be affordable for student attendees, -have a history of hosting financially successful IEEE technical conferences, -have local industry which designs and manufactures products using sensors, -be attractive as a tourist destination, -can provide interesting technical tours for conference participants, and -have an excellent venue and infrastructure for supporting conferences of up to 1,000 participants 8

Future Conferences (Guidelines) General Conference Co-Chairs (one with IEEE administrative experience and one with knowledge of venue) Multi-year PCO support contracts Late-News papers Open Posters session (open forum for new & untested concepts) Expanding exhibits Joint whenever possible with regional conferences Partner with national societies 9

–Use the same conference management company –Use the same paper submission and review process – Use the same reporting system –Use the same website template –Rely on the conference management company (PCO) for most of the administrative tasks Continuity 10

Technical Co-sponsorship Guidelines of 2/18/10 –One or more past proceedings (if they exist) must to submitted to the VP Conferences for review and evaluation –The Council announces the conference to its electronic mail list –September 15 to December 1 is a prohibited time period –Submissions must be peer reviewed –A secure submission process identifying and rejects fraudulent papers –An electronic attendee list must be provided to the Council –TPC must include a Council representative from the ADCOM or Meetings Committee –Sensors Council information should be included on the website and in the Final Program and Conference Proceedings –Complimentary registration & travel expenses for the Council representative on the TPC 11

Future Sensors Curriculum? Identify professors teaching in the sensors field Choose lead course developers Use selected review and best papers from Journal and Conference Use WEB-based distribution via Council’s WEB site Use WEB based experimentation for laboratories 12
