Computer Settings and Printing Tips Pennsylvania’s Protection From Abuse Database

Computer Settings and Printing Tips 2 Because PFAD is a Web application the client PC must be able to access the Internet. Internet Explorer version 5.0 or higher is required for accessing PFAD. You must have your pop-up blockers turned off when using PFAD or have PFAD listed as an approved site for pop-up windows.

Computer Settings and Printing Tips 3 A digital certificate from PFAD Technical Support is necessary to access the Live Order Database.

Computer Settings and Printing Tips 4 Your Internet settings may need to change in order to use PFAD to it’s fullest potential. To check your settings, click on Tools in the Internet Explorer toolbar and Internet Options in the Tools menu.

Computer Settings and Printing Tips 5 Click on the SETTINGS button located in the middle section of the box named Temporary Internet Files.

Computer Settings and Printing Tips 6 Select “Every visit to the page” from the option list in order to always view the page with the most recent changes. Click on the OK button to save your changes.

Computer Settings and Printing Tips 7 Click on the ADVANCED tab and scroll down to the section labeled “Security”. Uncheck the box next to “Warn if changing between secure and not secure mode” and uncheck the box next to “Warn if forms submittal is being redirected”. Click on the OK button to save your changes.

Computer Settings and Printing Tips 8 Click on “File” from the tool bar at the top of the Internet Explorer screen. Select “Page Setup” to review the page settings.

Computer Settings and Printing Tips 9 Select “Letter” as the paper size for printing PFAD documents on 8.5” X 11” paper. Delete any code in the boxes labeled “Header” and “Footer” to remove the web address, title, etc. from the printed versions of PFAD documents. Click on the OK button to save your changes.

Computer Settings and Printing Tips 10 Always use the navigation buttons provided in the database rather than on your browser tool bar.
