Main MenuHelpForward Back 3 Introduction Update session for the Ink and Media  Occurrences : quarterly  Target audience : Service and Application Engineers  Main goal: align the field personnel with the latest Ink and media related information

Main MenuHelpForward Back My Ski Vacation

Main MenuHelpForward Back Ink’s current Alpha & Beta tests  New Black ink for FB6700 printer  Incentive  Status and time frame  TJ210 ink for TJ8550/TJ8500  Incentive  Status and time frame  XP222 ink for XP2750/XP2700  Rollover for 5X00/2100/2300  Beta for 2750  DIY kit  New FF  Incentive  Status  Importance of Beta feedback

Main MenuHelpForward Back Recent R&D, ISB Activities  TJ100 LC ink for TJ8350/TJ8300  Quality issues  Status  New C and light inks for Dye Sub  Color gamut issues  Status  Gen7  Indian project for XL300S ink  Incentive and status Laboratory Ink manufactory

Main MenuHelpForward Back Known Escalations  Solvent ink manufactured in SAIMO  History  My new proposal  Glow Sign light colors curing problems  Example of proper troubleshooting  Further actions

Main MenuHelpForward Back Ink & Media – Troubleshooting logic  Four groups of ink problems  Drying/curing  Media related (adhesion, flexibility, light fastness)  Quality (color gamut, overspray, banding, bleeding)  H/W related (clogging heads, filters)

Main MenuHelpForward Back Ink & Media – Troubleshooting logic Drying/curing problem possible reasons  Dryer/UV unit is broken  Check if all heating elements/UV lamps are functioning  Check shutter mechanism and UV lamp switching timing  Drying/UV lamp is not sufficient  Check temperature/UV radiation level and uniformity  Clean UV lamp glass Workaround: Use both UV lamps or higher temperature setup, use slower print modes.  Ink is contaminated or damaged  Check other batch of ink  Ink coverage is too high  Check with application specialist ink percentage in dark areas of the file. Reduce if needed. Recommended coverage is not more than 320%  Media related  Use alternative media if all the above is checked and fixed

Main MenuHelpForward Back Ink & Media – Troubleshooting logic Media related – low adhesion possible reasons  Media related  Use alternative media  Customer application requires higher adhesion lever  Use alternative media  Ink is contaminated or damaged  Check other batch of ink  Drying/curing is not sufficient  See above

Main MenuHelpForward Back Ink & Media – Troubleshooting logic Media related – UV ink low flexibility possible reasons  Ink limitation  No solution for the now. Gen8 supposes to provide solution  Ink coverage is too high  See above Workaround for ink chipping on edges after cutting – printing on pre cut media

Main MenuHelpForward Back Ink & Media – Troubleshooting logic Media related – light fastness – ink fading before 2 years possible reasons  Media related  Spec is accordingly to specific media only  Zone related  Spec is accordingly to central Europe zone  Application related  For 90º applications only

Main MenuHelpForward Back Ink & Media – Troubleshooting logic Quality - Color gamut change  Ink is out of spec, damaged or expired  Check another ink bottle/batch  HW related  Check possibility to light and dark ink mixing in the system  Media is affecting by UV system  Print blank file to see the differences. Check another media

Main MenuHelpForward Back Ink & Media – Troubleshooting logic Quality - Overspray  Site environment conditions (humidity, temperature) are not accordingly to SitePrep  Inform customer and check if fixed  Static electricity  Humidity is too low (see above). Clean media with air gun. Check another media.  Ink is out of spec, damaged or expired  Check another ink bottle/batch  HW related. PH are clogged, slow ink supply – starvation, electronic noise, data noise  Replace PH  Check ink supply. Compare to other separations  Replace driver/CCB board  Check printing file

Main MenuHelpForward Back Ink & Media – Troubleshooting logic Quality – Banding  Clogged PH  Replace PH  Slow ink supply – starvation  See above  Media is uneven or damaged  Check another media  HW related. PH uniformity problem.  Replace PH White banding Color banding

Main MenuHelpForward Back Ink & Media – Troubleshooting logic Quality – Bleeding  Drying/curing is not sufficient  See above  Media is not suitable  Check another media  Ink coverage is too high  Check printing file and reduce ink coverage – see above

Main MenuHelpForward Back Ink & Media – Troubleshooting logic Quality – HW damaging/clogging  Ink is out of spec, damaged or expired  Check another ink bottle/batch  Ink system was exposed to heat, light, air  Eliminate the source, seal possible areas  Ink was contaminated with damaged FF  Use only 1L FF bottle and according to requirements. 1 year shelf life and 3 months after opening.  Ink was contaminated with dust, fibers etc. at customer site  Demand from customer to provide appropriate cleanness and maintenance level

Main MenuHelpForward Back New Ink and Media section in the Support Zone  Where to find the new section  Content

Main MenuHelpForward Back Q&A - Summary  Recently we have a lot of ink test activities  Most of the ink problems and escalations are connected to SAIMO production  R&D is closing the gapes connected to unstable materials for UV ink technology and lack of adhesion to the media and ink flexibility  Support Zone provides new and efficient platform for all ink and media related information  APJ Testing Center is a good example for other regions  We will keep you updated quarterly
