What happened to Flight 19? Was the Bermuda Triangle responsible?

Flight 19 left Ft. Lauderdale ,Florida at 2:10 p. m. on Dec. 5 ,1945 Flight 19 left Ft. Lauderdale ,Florida at 2:10 p.m. on Dec.5 ,1945. The flight was a training flight. There were five US Navy Avenger bombers and a crew of 14 airmen.

The Bermuda Triangle The Bermuda Triangle has been blamed for the disappearance of ships and planes that have traveled over it. Pilots and ship captains have reported that their compasses often won’t work correctly when traveling through the triangle. It is thought to have a magnetic force that affects their navigational equipment.

Charles Taylor, the flight leader, had graduated from the Naval Air Station in Corpus Christi in 1942. Then he became a flight instructor. He ditched 3 planes while returning to the carrier. Two of the times he had been lost.

An hour and a half later Taylor reported his compasses were not working, but he thought he was Florida Keys so he thought he should fly north. The farther north he traveled, he kept going out to sea At 4:45 everyone realized Taylor was lost. At 5:50 the people on the ground managed to get Flight 19’s location. They were east of Smyrna Beach. This was the last time they could find their location.

The last time that they had contact was at 7:04 pm , about 90 miles east-northeast of the barrier islands of the Abacos Islands. Then Flight 19 was never heard from again.

The “Iron Birds,” which were the airplanes, weighed about 14,000 pounds each!

What I Think Happened I think that Charles Taylor’s compass went bad when flying over the Bermuda Triangle. He was lost, but he thought he was over the Florida Keys. He headed north hoping to land in Florida, but he kept going out to sea. He eventually ran out of fuel and crashed into the Atlantic Ocean.

The first thing they did was leave Ft. Lauderdale, Florida at 2:10 p.m. on Dec. 5, 1945. The last thing to wrap up my story about Flight 19 is that the planes that they flew was about 14,000 lbs so when they crashed they sunk into the ocean never to be found. The next thing they did was that they lost contact with Ft. Lauderdale around 7:04 p.m.

So was the Bermuda Triangle Responsible for the Disappearance of Flight 19?
