 “Their Eyes Were Watching God”  Henri Christophe – President of Haiti  “The Kingdom of This World”  Langton Hughes who translated the works of Jacques Roumain  Katherine Dunham, famous Dancer and Choreographer  The Louisiana Purchase

 Measured 7.0 in Magnitude  The Earthquake was not a natural disaster but a disaster of Engineering. Death and injury was due to building collapse.  Early after the quake, there were stop gaps symbolic of Haiti’s centralized Government.

 Food, water, gasoline, medical supplies, sanitation and salaries basically the extent of services.  $12 billion coming from all donor nations.  No response by co-chair overseeing Haiti’s reconstruction for requests of financial specifics.

 Failed ties between humanitarian organizations and the Haitian Government.  Permanent solutions that improves people lives and livelihoods needed.  Lack of reconstruction and decentralization.  Haiti is energy poor, i.e. Kerosene and charcoal are main energy sources.
