TUYAD is a non-profit, non – governmental organization which has been founded by the companies in the satellite sector. It was founded in Istanbul in 2001 by the most respected satellite operator, DTH pay TV platforms, STB manufacturers, SMATV equipment manufacturers and integrator companies of Turkey for the purpose of increasing total quality of the industry. Our member companies provide high technology and service. We have global companies / brands which produce the technology, products and equipment required for the provision of satellite Tv, internet, data and service. Turkish Regulatory authorities attach a significant importance to the opinions of and reports issued by TUYAD in the circulars that it issues and the practices that it introduces. In addition to that TUYAD has worked as a partner of the global VSAT Forum ( GVF) in Turkey. TUYAD supports satellite technologies which are involved in 60 % of our daily lives directly or indirectly. TUYAD believes the importance of the satellite-supported converged solutions and services with emerging communications technologies and TUYAD works to support this convergence from the technical and regulative point of view. Satellites which have provided HD broadcast first time and will provide QFHD first time have also an effective role in the world politics ensuring communication among and beyond the nations without making any discrimination in terms of economic or other differences. Not only Tv Satellite systems but also IP Tv and Satellite internet systems are among the leading subjects of the corporate members of TUYAD association. The new generation Ka Band Satellite internet systems are offered as an alternative to fiber optic internet systems and are sought for as such. Watching TV and having internet communication through satellite antennas also support having more free and lasting systems. In our country, cabled broadcasting and communication of information is not an alternative to satellite antenna in terms of technical capacity and efficiency but only an alternative offered to the preference of the audience like the land-based digital system. Television watching alternatives in our country are satellite antenna, local antenna, digital platforms and cable Tv 137

According to the data for the year 2012; Out of 20 million Tv watching points, the number of satellite antenna subscribers, cable Television subscribers and digital platform members are 12.3, 1.6 and 4.7 million respectively while the remaining audience prefer local antennas. The majority of the audience prefers satellite antennas as the figures above show. The number of buyers of satellite antennas sold in Turkey in 2012 has been 3, pieces of these antennas have been sold with the purpose of transition to new HD technology. DVB-T2 broadcasting shall commence in Land-based digital DVB –T2will empoy MPEG-4 compression system. Analogue broadcasting will be totally closed in 2015 and the land-based broadcasting will only continue digitally.
