What Does a Photographer Do?  Photographers use many types of technology to capture events or to tell stories. As a photographer you could photograph many things, including people, landscapes, merchandise, and more.

Types of Photographers  Portrait Photographer are photographers who take photos of people, and are usually working in their own studios.  Commercial and Industrial Photographers take pictures of just about anything from models, landscapes, and more.  Aerial Photographers take photos from helicopters, looking down onto land.  Scientific Photographers record scientific data using pictures.

More Photographers  Scientific Photographers record scientific data using pictures.  News Photographers, or photojournalists often take pictures of various things for tv, journals, newspapers, magazines, etc.  Fine Arts Photographers sell the photos they take as artwork.  University Photographers are general photographers for a various educational institution.

Skills it Takes to be a Photographer  Listening Skills: giving full attention, and taking time to understand the points being made  Speaking: talking in order to give information properly  Coordination: adjusting your actions according to others actions  Critical Thinking: quickly assessing the situation and knowing how to handle it

Activities of a Photographer  There are many activities that a photographer will encounter on a daily basis. Some of these include thinking creatively, working with computers, establishing and maintaining relationships, and selling products.

National Wage Information  The median yearly wage for a photographer is about $29,300. A high paid photographer can be paid about $66,400.

State Wage Information  In South Carolina, the median wage is a little lower. As a photographer you usually make around $28,600. A high paid photographer here is paid around $53,500 a year.

State and National Trends  In the US, the career trends are expected to increase by 4% from 2012 to There are about 2,030 protected annual job openings.  In South Carolina, the career trends are expected to increase by 6%. And there are about 30 protected annual job openings.

High School Classes  Art: Photography 1 is a class for students who want to explore to study of photography in an art form.  Art: Photography 2 is a more advanced class from art 1 and is for student who plan on pursuing a career in photographer or creating an art portfolio.
