Tablet PC What is it? A tablet PC is a wireless, mobile computer equipped with a touch screen or graphics tablet/screen hybrid to operate the computer with a stylus or digital pen, finger tip or keyboard.
Used for: Intended function as a mobile way to interact with a computer. Often used where normal notebooks are impractical.
Formats Convertible Model- integrated keyboard and display that rotates 180 degrees and can be folded down over keyboard
Slate Model- resemble writing slates, are tablet PC without dedicated keyboard.
Hybrid Model Share features of the slate model and convertible model by using detachable keyboard
Advantages: Ability to use in environment where keyboard or mouse not conducive to conditions Recording non-character based info, such as diagrams or mathematical notation and symbols Light weight Portable No need for pens, paper or other writing tools
Disadvantages High cost Input speed Text-conversion Screen damage risk Viewing area small Small keyboard
