If students are searching for information specific to geriatric populations this is an excellent resource. This resource includes a “Toolkit for Trainers”, which are free, easy- to-use training materials to help older adults find reliable, up-to- date online health information on their own. PubMed PubMed comprises more than 21million citations for biomedical literature from MEDLINE, life science journals, and online books. PubMed is a free resource that is developed and maintained by the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI), at the U.S. National Library of Medicine (NLM), located at the National Institute of Health (NIH). PubMed provides links to PubMed Central (PMC) a free full-text archive of biomedical and life sciences journal literature at the U.S. NIH/NLM. NLM’s Pillbox Pillbox enables rapid identification of unknown solid-dosage medications (tablets/capsules) based on physical characteristics and high-resolution images. Once a medication is identified, Pillbox provides links to drug information and drug labels.

Drug Information Portal

DailyMed DailyMed provides high quality information about marketed drugs. This information includes FDA labels (package inserts). This Web site provides health information providers and the public with a standard, comprehensive, up-to-date, look-up and download resource of medication content and labeling as found in medication package inserts. The National Library of Medicine (NLM) provides this as a public service and does not accept advertisements.

Dietary Supplements Labels Database The Dietary Supplements Labels Database offers information about label ingredients in more than 7,000 selected brands of dietary supplements. It enables users to compare label ingredients in different brands. Information is also provided on the "structure/function" claims made by manufacturers. These claims by manufacturers have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. Companies may not market as dietary supplements any products that are intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.

AIDSinfoDrug Database Database of fact sheets on FDA- approved and investigational HIV/AIDS-related drugs. Fact sheets are available in consumer and health professional versions.

Come on, Mon, Dad, Get Healthy The National Library of Medicine released the book Come on, Mom, Dad, Get Healthy! The TAPAS (Teens Against Parent Addiction Squad) Take Action. Designed to supplement the middle school health curriculum, the book employs a fictional story to address the subjects of addiction to food, smoking, and alcohol. Includes lesson plans on key concepts such as: Nutrition Addiction health facts Decision making skills Come on, Mom, Dad, Get Healthy! is a unique book that addresses the sensitive issue of parental addiction and teaches students about the quality, reliable health information resources available through the National Library of Medicine’s website. Written at an age-appropriate level, the book shows characters that students can relate to in everyday situations and introduces students to health information. Health Hotlines Health Hotlines is a compilation of organizations with toll-free telephone numbers. It is derived from DIRLINE, the National Library of Medicine's Directory of Information Resources Online. This database contains descriptions of over 14,000 biomedical information resources, including organizations, databases, research resources, etc. Health Hotlines also lists a variety of groups disseminating information on a number of specific disease and disorders (adolescent behavior, child care, disability evaluation).
