Physical Education and the new National Curriculum

What is changing in the PE curriculum? Minimal guidance- flexibility and creativity More emphasis on sustained activity More emphasis on competition The sports listed are suggested rather than compulsory. Dance and Gymnastics are also ‘suggested’.

Our vision at Longfield is for every child to experience a variety of sports and physical activities that inspire and motivate so that physical activity is enjoyed and embedded in their healthy lifestyle.

Next steps for PE High Expectations of pupils Clear differentiation Progressive and transferable skills Inter-class and inter-school competition Silver kite-mark award
