Presentation transcript:

DO NOW V: 0 Monday Mar. 17, 2014 On the next blank page in your INB, create a unit page for our next unit, “Organisms and Environments”.

DO NOW V: 0 Monday Mar. 17, 2014 In your INB, list similarities and differences between a food pyramid, a food chain, and a food web.

DO NOW V: 0 Food chains show how the energy in food is passed from one organism to another in an ecosystem. The arrows indicate the direction of energy flow.

DO NOW V: 0 A food web shows the movement of energy through an ecosystem, but there are many more relationships and interactions shown.

DO NOW V: 0 In an energy pyramid, each layer is called a trophic level; at the base of the pyramid we find the producers, above that the herbivores (primary consumers), the carnivores are the secondary consumers. Only 10% of the energy is passed from one trophic level to the next.
