Critical Path… Australian Recce 1. Undertake an exploratory trip to Aus to visit National Federation to better understand and learn from there existing professional competitions 2. SA Government officials also attended the trip 3. Extensive documentation was gathered and has been used to help NSA put in place systems and structures for the NPL NSA Council Meeting, NPL Workshops & Roadshows 1. Present and propose NPL model to National Council for approval 2. Conduct key internal workshop with important stakeholders to seek and agree optimum NPL model for NSA 3. Visit all 9 Provinces and 47 Regions across the country to detail NPL model, roles, responsibilities and timelines OctoberNovemberDecember Australian and NZ Governments played (and still do) an integral part in the start up funding required to launch Aus / NZ’s pro women’s netball event!

Critical Path Key Administrative Matters: 1. Formulate and constitute new NPL Board and Pty Limited entity 2. Identify and seek independent Board members (black woman) from corporate SA 3. Complete and submit all necessary Lottery application documentation 3. Complete and send out key Participation agreements and job portfolio for all Teams Follow up: 1. Another national roadshow to check up on progress of GM appointments and committee structures for each Team 2. Conclude and send out draft Player contracts 3. Chase up with potential sponsorships 4. Meet with broadcaster to conclude NPL structure, live matches and schedules 5. Meetings with Government DecemberJanuaryFebruary

What will the NPL achieve? 1.Create direct employment for over 200 women 1.Expose the largest women’s sport on the continent 1.Afford women an equal chase to showcase their sport against a much dominated male environment 2.Create new heroes and figureheads for young women 1.Generate much needed income for netball and women 1.Use the opportunity to send out important social and responsibility messages in the many challenges facing women in SA and across the continent 1.Improve the lives and competencies of women in South Africa 1.Create a platform for further growth and development

Where to from here? Netball South Africa have worked endlessly over the past 8 months to create a platform to launch the first ever professional women’s competition on the continent! Most of the planning has been conducted out of NSA’s own limited investment funds and by volunteers NSA is ready to launch the Netball Premier League but needs the required and much needed funding to do so!
