Examples of using word Here are some examples of how I have used word at school: Geography – making a list of things needed for my coursework using a paragraph to describe each thing needed and why its needed. English – to write my essays using spell check. Science – to make some tables for my results from my experiment and to write up my experiment.

Advantages of using word Here are some advantages of using word compared to hand writing your work: Spell check – this is good because if you are a bad speller it can make sure all of your work is correct. Corrections – if you make a mistake you can go back over it and it wouldn’t have to be scribbled out. Illustration – you can draw or add picture4s to you work to improve the standard of your work and you can move your picture around your page to where you want it. Neatness – word makes you work neater than your hand writing. You don’t have to carry it around with you all of the time.

Disadvantages of using word Here are some disadvantages of using word instead of hand writing your work: Saving work – sometimes there are problems with saving your work and all of your work could get deleted. Difficulties working at home – sometimes it can be hard to work of your piece of work at home as well as school which means it could take longer to finish or sometimes your computer at home might not have the various programmes that your work is saved on or you need to use for your work. Printing issues – sometimes the printer might not work so you cant hand in your work because it doesn't print off, the printer might not have any ink or has no paper or there might be no colour in the printer.

Conclusion I think that it is better to use word because it is easier than hand writing it because its quicker and more presentable for the reader. It helps me because my spelling isn’t very good and it can bump up my grade if I have better spelling. Because of this I would always use word for my work.

E-safety Social media sites I use – Facebook because I can keep in contact with my friends and I can find out what my friends are doing as well as them knowing what I am doing. Instagram because I can share what I am doing with people in pictures and it also can keep memories. Snapchat because I can talk to my friends by sending pictures to each other instead of talking.

Dangers of using social media The dangers of using social media are: people can bully you without doing it to your face or you knowing who they are so that they can get away with it. People can steal your identity and talk to your friends and find out information without it actually being you. People who your not friends with can find out what your doing without you wanting them to know . You can become involved in the wrong set of people and end up being in contact with strangers who are bad people.

Staying safe when your online Here are some tips for staying safe online: Using passwords – this helps you protect your accounts with out anybody else being able to use them without your permission. Using private settings – this means that people who you aren’t friends with cant see or access your personal information. Don’t give out too much information about yourself because then people can get to know too much about you and can act upon that and you could become in danger. Your parents can put filters on what they allow you and your family to access certain websites so that you can be protected from them and to help you stay safe.

E-mail The different features of e-mail: Emails are saved which means that you can keep track of what's being said. Emails can be either sent or one person or a group of people. Emails can have attachments like pictures or website names to show the person who your emailing. Emails can help you to keep in contact with people who you necessarily have on social media sites.

Advantages of using emails Here are some advantages of using emails instead of meeting with people: Meeting people takes too much time and some people don’t have the time to meet people because they’re too busy. With emailing you don’t have to travel anywhere and its free compared to meeting someone. Emails help you contact lots of people with the same information instead of meeting up with all of those people. Emails can be sent and received quickly and whenever you like, they can even be done on the go.

The disadvantages of using email Here are some disadvantages of using emails: Using emails means that you cant see how the person is reacting to the email for example you might say something sarcastically and the person might think your being serious. Emails can be misunderstood and create problems if they are taken in the wrong way because you don’t have the opportunity to ask questions immediately. Some people prefer to meet in person instead of using and email because it is more social and you can discuss more things quicker. There might be problems with sending and/or receiving the emails and this could be a problem if they are urgent. Emails can cause problems such as viruses with computers and websites.

Conclusion I think emails are better if you are a busy person or not very sociable with people because then you can keep in contact with the person without having to go and see them face to face and also if the person doesn’t live close to you then it is easier to email the person. Emails can help you remember things because they are written down. I think meeting people is better if you have lots of time and lots to say and if you are a sociable person and afraid to meet people.

Legal considerations Key parts of copyright: If you copy something you have to say where you got it from otherwise it is copyright and you could be penalised for doing this. If you buy something copyright laws forbid you from giving it to a friend, making another copy of it and selling it, using the software on a network (unless licenced to) or renting the software without the permission on the copyright holder.

Schools acceptable usage policy for computers Key points: Only access the school network and internet using my authorised username and password, which will remain private; nor will I use another persons username, even if that person has given their permission. Not engage in any activity that will , or might, compromise either the system or the work of others. Not attempt to install any programs or change system settings. Not use chat rooms.

Following the legal requirements Here are some examples of how I followed the legal requirements: In some of my coursework I have used copyright legislation because when I used something from a source I stated which source it was, where I got it from and who wrote it. I followed the AUP (the schools ICT agreement) because I keep my password to myself and I don’t post anything on social media during school. I only submit work if it is 100% my own and not used a friends or a websites work for example something from BBC Bitesize.

Using ICT The different types of ICT used at Hillview: Computer rooms- people use these to access computers for work. Laptop trolleys- these trolleys carry around the laptops around school for students to use during class. PCs in some classrooms- these are used for some students to do work on during class or in break times with a teacher. Tablets in science- these are used for researching work and experiments. Apple macs in media- these are used for the media students to edit their work and make it skilfully on high tech computers .

IT in school The chart is about the number of computers and PCs within school and how many we use. This is what the school provides although students are allowed to bring in laptops and Ipads from home to use.
