Introduction Today I will be comparing Laos and Australia because My sister went there for her world challenge so I’ve always wanted to learn about that area

Population  Laos has 6,400,000 people in their country  Australia has 23,000,000 people in their country  Australia has four times the Laos population

Size  Laos size is 230,800km 2  Australia's size is 7,659,861km 2  Australia's size is 7,429,091km 2 bigger than Laos

Capital  Laos capital is called Vientiane which became the capital in 1568 and has a population of 754,000  Australia's capital in called Canberra which became the capital in 1911 and has a population of 374,245  Laos has a capital that is 343 years older than Australia and a population that is 379,755 bigger than Australia

Languages  The national language in Laos is called Laotian  The national language in Australia is called English  In Laos there are lots of other languages because not a many people can afford to learn the national language but in Australia most people use the same language

Industries  Laos industries include mining copper, gold, tin and gypsum, also Laos does lots of rice harvesting in big green fields  Australia's include mining in search of gold, coal, iron ore and many other minerals and gases, also Australia includes in agriculture and truism.  Australia and Laos earns roughly the same amount of money from running these industries

Currency  Currency in Laos is called Laos kip  Currency in Australia is called the Australian Dollar  1000 Laos kip is worth only 14 cents in Australia

Annual Income per Person in One Week  In Laos the income per person is 381,048 Laos Kip, which is $51.90  In Australia the income per person is $  This happens because Laos is a poor country

Life Expectancy  The average life expectancy in Laos is around 66.5 years old of men and women  The average life expectancy in Australia is around 80 for the boys and 85 for the girls  I believe that this happens because in Laos most people cant afford medicine

Adult Literacy  In Laos the average adult literacy rate is 73%  In Australia the average adult literacy rate is 96%  They are very different because its very hard to get an education in Laos

Religions  Laos’s national religion is Buddhism but, there are 48 other religions in the country  In Australia the national religion is Christianity but, there are 9 other popular religions in Australia along with a lot of other religions  In Australia there is more religions because there is a tremendous amount of other languages in Laos

Ethnic Groups  In Laos there are around 160 different ethnic groups  In Australia there are around 82 ethnic groups  You can see that there is lots more ethnic groups in Laos.

Celebrations  Currently the only celebration that the whole country celebrates in Laos New Year  In Australia the celebrations include Christmas, Easter, Anzac Day and New Year.  Comparing the two you can see that Australia has more celebrations because they are either traditions In Australia or christen celebrations

Imports & Exports  In Laos the main imports include wood, rubber, planes and helicopters and the exports include copper, wood, suits and coffee.  In Australia the main imports include gold, cars, pumps and tyres and the exports include iron, coal, gold, gas and beef.  As you can see Australia and Laos have very different imports and exports because different countries have different needs

Conclusion In conclusion from comparing these countries I have learnt that Laos isn’t a very developed country and is very poor but Australia is much more fortunate than Laos in many different ways.
