The culture was forgotten after Hawaii had been invaded in the late eighteenth century. However, it was revived in the twentieth century and continues to exist today. Values Some surfers love surfing for spiritual reasons, such as the connection they feel with nature by riding with the waves. Others simply surf for the adrenaline and the love of the water. Norms 1.The surfer closest to the wave has the right to ride it 2.Don’t paddle where the wave is forming and people are lining up to ride it. 3.Communicate with other surfers about which direction you are heading. 4.Don’t throw your board! Hang on to it. It could hurt someone 5.Respect the beach and the ocean as well as other surfers (especially those who are better than you). 6.DO NOT HOG THE WAVES.
