RCBM MAZE MCAP MCOMP

R-CBM Standard Oral Reading Fluency Assessment Passages More than 25 years of research* has shown that listening to a child read graded passages aloud for 1 minute and calculating the number of words read correct per minute provides a highly reliable and valid measure of general reading achievement, including comprehension, for most students. This testing practice, Reading Curriculum-Based Measurement (R-CBM) has met the standards for use in Reading First as determined by the Secretary of Education's Committee on Reading Assessment and the Office of Special Education Program's National Center for Student Progress Monitoring. * Marston(1982), Shinn (1981), Tindal and Germann (1983)

Maze-CBM Standard Reading Comprehension Assessment Passages Although Reading Curriculum-Based Measurement (R-CBM) is the best overall measure of students' general reading proficiency, for some students, educators have felt the need for another measure, especially when comprehension problems are suspected. Maze reading (Maze-CBM) can be used in this instance as a corroborative or supplemental measure to provide a more complete picture of students' reading skills. Maze is a multiple-choice close task that students complete while reading silently. The first sentence of a 150-400 word passage is left intact. Thereafter, every 7th word is replaced with three words inside parenthesis. One of the words is the exact one from the original passage. Science-based research has shown that this provides a reliable and valid measure of reading comprehension. www.studentprogress.org

MCOMP MCOMP is a revised assessment of Math Computation (M-COMP). M-COMP is consistent with the new AIMSweb M-CAP (Math Concepts and Applications) in terms of format, number of benchmark and progress monitoring probes per grade, scoring rules, reporting. M-COMP offers a wealth of new features: Enhanced content to increase overall rigor and align more closely with NCTM standards Enhanced, student-friendly format Three benchmark probes and 30 progress monitoring probes, with fewer, but more targeted items than previous versions Updated and streamlined scoring rules and new reporting

MCAP M-CAP measures students' ability to apply mathematical reasoning, analytical skills, and computational skills - complementing the M-CBM assessment, which evaluates calculation and computational skills. Group-administered, taking 8 minutes for grades 2-6; 10 minutes for grades 7-8 Based on the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) Principles and Standards Contains 33 probes per grade: three for benchmarking all students, and an additional 30 for monitoring the effectiveness of interventions Assesses a broad set of math domains, including number sense, measurement, operations, patterns and relationships, data Features easy, innovative scoring that enhances the sensitivity of each probe, maximizes the technical adequacy and scientific properties that support the scoring process, minimizes the impact of “skipping,” and simplifies the scoring process for teachers
