 The Time Traveler invents a time machine. He travels to the year 802,000. He notices a large, white sphinx. He saves a girl from drowning—her name is Weena. He learns that there are two “classes” of people: the Eloi (upper class) and the Morlocks (lower class). The Eloi are 4 feet tall and fragile. The Morlocks are huge and beast-looking. What we Read: Chapters 2-5

 The Time Traveler goes down beneath the earth, to the home of the Morlocks, who he suspects have stolen his time machine. He discovers that the Morlocks have been eating the Eloi because they are very weak. While escaping, the Morlocks kidnap Weena. Now trying to rescue Weena and his Time Machine, the Time Traveler heads into the Sphinx. What we are Skipping: Chapters 6-9

 The Time Traveler heads to the Sphinx to rescue Weena and the ship. He finds the ship and heads 30 million years into the future. He travels back to the year 1899 and begins telling his story to his guests, who we met in Chapters 1/2. Chapter Epilogue

 Read on your own!  Answer the questions in your notebook on the next slide.  Chapters 10-Epilogue; Pg  Questions? Let’s Read!

1.When TTT enters the room with the Morlocks guarding his ship, what does he decide to do? 2.What happens to the sun when TTT goes even more into the future? 3.Name all the animals and plant life TTT sees in Chapter Do TTT guests believe his story? Use details to support your answer! 5.Does TTT bring any evidence from the future back with him to his own time? Explain. Questions in Notebook *TTT = The Time Traveler*
