The Effects Of Lead Poisoning In The Brain By Tobias Moos

Places And Effects

Effect of lead to the human body. When the lead most likely a molecule like this Pb(CO 3 ) 2 enters the blood stream, it will eventually reach the brain. When it does it will slowly destroy neurons and the connections in the brain.

How Does It Destroy The Brain? One of the reason we believe is that lead interferes with neurotransmitter glutamate. What Is Glutamate? Glutamate is Amino acid. Is Glutamate Important? It can be. It is important for learning and short and long term memory.

Glutamate Molecular Structure

Lead Facts And Prevention Children of 10 months to 6 years old obtain lead through touching lead paint or any lead objects. Lead is permanently harmful for the rest of their lives if it is ingested or inhaled. To a child lead tastes sweet which explains why there are over 1 million cases of lead poisoning in Europe and North America alone. Lead paint was banned in 1978, but is still found in houses made earlier than that.

Top Way of Lead Poisoning The number 1 most common way of lead poisoning is through lead paint on the house or through a lead painted object. Pb(CO 3 ) 2 is used in paint to create white paint. Although banned in 1978 when a law was past banning Pb paint. You still will find it in old houses. This is why people get poisoned from lead paint because they come in contact with the lead, which then is ingested or inhaled.

Prevention The best solution to getting rid of lead paint in a house is by removing it, not painting over the lead. If the level of lead is over 10 micrograms per deciliter in the blood, it is hazardous and damaging to the body and brain If the lead level is over 10 micrograms per deciliter in their blood, immediately check your house for sources of lead, such as lead paint.

Prevention Even if the lead is taken off, after you find the source, there will still be lead in your house. Lead will accumulate anywhere you do not clean. This form of lead is invisible to the naked eye, but weighs more than regular dust. If gradually over time lead dust is inhaled you can get sick, even have a coma or death.

Prevention Is The Only Cure Start by washing you or your child’s hands frequently. Have them wash their body frequently Make sure you don’t have any lead containing objects, such as a lead painted chair or a lead painted toy. If you do have lead immediately get rid of it.
