Task 19 Explain how to produce hard copies of the drawings, and the advantages and disadvantages of printers and plotters.

What will we cover? How to print Advantages and disadvantages of printers Advantages and disadvantages of plotters

Producing hard copies of drawings Select Print Preview option and check that the drawing fits correctly on the paper as required. If correct select the Print option, if not change the print settings and preview until correct.

Producing hard copies of drawings 1. Select printer or plotter required 3. Select scale required 2. Select paper size 4. Select paper orientation

Printers Advantages Disadvantages Quick Mainly restricted to A4 size Cheap to run Do not take up too much space Produces A4 or A3 sized prints for easy handling

Plotters Advantages Disadvantages Can produce paper copies of various sizes, A4, A3, A2, A1 and sometimes A0 Expensive to operated in terms of paper and ink Large paper size shows good drawing detail Hard to load and align paper Slow print speed
