NC Voter ID 2016 Daphne Rainey Voter ID Committee – Sheila Beaudry, Jennie Deloach, Delcinia Turner July 16, 2015 CCDP Executive Committee Meeting

National Voter Registration Act of 1993 (NVRA)– “Motor Voter Act” Requires states to provide citizens with the opportunity to register to vote for federal elections by three important means: 1. At DMV while applying for or renewing driver's licenses 2. At application for Public Assistance (PA) programs, such as food stamps or welfare 3. By mail-in registration and voter registration drives. NVRA also requires the states to collect data regarding how many voter registration applications are generated via each of these means, and to report summaries of those data to the U.S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC) every two years.

BY DOCDAWG – DAILY KOS THU MAY 07, 2015 AT 05:59 AM PDT Board of Elections data reveal voter registration irregularities under NC Gov. Pat McCrory NC SBE uncovered systematic irregularities in voter registration efforts. Irregularities, potentially disenfranchise tens of thousands of poverty-level NC citizens. Under McCrory NC is the tip of the GOP's spear in efforts to suppress voting by demographic groups which typically do not lean Republican (blacks, Latinos, youth, and the economically disadvantaged). McCrory signed the nation's single most draconian voter suppression bill, The Voter Information Verification Act (VIVA). Legal challenges filed by NC NAACP, the ACLU, the League of Women Voters, and the U.S. Dept. of Justice. Oral arguments in NC- NAACP v. McCrory will begin on July 6th.
