It speaks of the story of middle-aged slave, named Uncle Tom and his family. Their brutal lives of slaves and their fight for freedom. 5. The book was best selling next to the Bible. WHAT WAS UNCLE TOM?

1. The book was written to show the ugliest and cruelest parts of slavery 2. The book was written from an anti-slavery view 3. It also showed how Christian love could overcome slavery of human beings 4. This book became the foundation in starting the Civil War between the North and South. WHY WAS IT WRITTEN?

1. The book places fictional characters in real situations 2. For Example: Whether slavery was practiced by cruel or benevolent masters slavery was still a miserable circumstance for Southern blacks, testing their courage and faith. 3.
