ITCC Open Forum  CLC Planning Overview  Print Management Update April 10, 2009

CLC Planning Overview Goal and Purpose: – Define CLCs & process for implementing changes – Establish Lifecycle Management CLC Planning Committee Timeline – Requests are made for following fiscal year Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) – Extend CLC/Classroom functionality – Ultimately personalized

CLC Planning Committee Purpose: Evaluate CLC Requests and make recommendations for next fiscal year Meet 2 or 3 times a year Membership includes representation from: – Information Technology Computer Committee (ITCC) – Information Technology (IT) – Registrar – Student Council (StuCo) – Rep from discipline-specific (DSCC) curriculum comm (follow up)

CLC Definitions – Open Access (Campus & Departmental) – Teaching (Campus & Departmental) – Dedicated (Departmental) Lifecycle Levels A & B (3 year & 5-6 year)

CLC Process & Timeline Change Control Management Principles – Request, review, recommend, resource, implement Process – Request Window (Fall semester) – Review and Recommendation (Nov-Feb) – Resourcing (Jan-Apr) – Planning and Implementation (Jan-Apr)

Print Management Update Active student input Fall 2009 Initial Roll-out / Pilot – CLC printers, Client software required – Print quotas – Data gathering and analysis – Expect 20-30% reduction from increased awareness and behavior change Spring 2010 Enhancements – Migration to Windows/SMB based print serving – Consider use for non-CLC print management
