Panama is located in Central America. Panama is situated between Costa Rica and Columbia. The capital city of Panama is Panama City. Where is Panama?

Panama was discovered by Spanish explorer Rodrigo de Bastidas in 1501 and became under Spanish rule. They were fought by many of the local people and had hard times settling a colony and in 1519 a Spaniard found the city of Panama which is located near present day Panama city. Spanish Rule

Panama gained independence in 1821 and they soon after joined Gran Colombia, which was several Latin America countries united together. Internal fighting lead to the abolishment of Gran Colombia but Panama stayed as a province of Colombia. Panama Gains Independence
