Ice Hockey

AOI: H&Se UQ: How different phyisical principles can be seen and what motoric skills are needed for hockey player? IB profile lerner: Thinker

Introduction into game First matched – March 3, 1875, Montreal Game divided in 3 periods Each period – 20 min (with small breaks between) 6 player per team (5 skaters + goal keeper) International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF), 1908 (formation)

Tips for hockey players Bend knes Head up, eyes forward Balance Off ice skate practice Skate maintence Lightness on skates Fast leg recovery Learn to skate backwards Have good attitude!

Physical laws and principles Friction Center of mass and center of gravity Newtons‘ laws Energy transfer (collision) Linear motion Momentum

Motoric skills Stamina - The ability of body systems to process, deliver, store, and utilize energy. Strength and power - The ability of a muscular unit, or combination of muscular units, to apply force. Flexibility - the ability to maximize the range of motion at a given joint. Speed - The ability to minimize the time cycle of a repeated movement. Coordination - The ability to combine several distinct movement patterns into a singular distinct movement. Balance - The ability to control the placement of the bodies center of gravity in relation to its support base. Accuracy - The ability to control movement in a given direction or at a given intensity.

Limitations Injuries Long recovering time Fights Expensive equipment Special conditions
