Split

About Split  Split is the second largest city in Croatia and the largest city of the region of Dalmatia.  It lies on the eastern shore of the Adriatic Sea.  Split has 178,000 inhabitants.

 Split is an important Croatia Mediterranean cultural center  Patron saint of Split is St. Duje.  St. Duje Cathedral is the oldest cathedral in the world.

History  Split is one of the oldest cities in the area.  The city center is the old Diocletian's palace from the 4th century.  Palace is built by the Roman Emperor Diocletian.

Tourism  Split is becoming increasingly popular tourist destination.  In the first nine months of 2014, as many as 863,000 overnight stays were registered.  Most of the tourist come from Germany, Great Britain, France, Czech Republic and Italy.

 Croatia is becoming more and more recognized as an attractive destination for the music festivals.  The Famous world music festival is Ultra Europe Music Festival.
