What happens to you when you die and you’re placed in an Egyptian tomb? Correct, you go to the Afterlife! Even though ancient Egypt can be credited with several legacies, the “Afterlife” is considered one of the most important because of its origin, contribution and significance.

The Afterlife is considered an important legacy of ancient Egypt due to its origin. There wasn’t really a beginning. The Afterlife was considered to always have been there and nobody can be given credit for having created it. But ancient Egyptians made the afterlife a really big deal. They believed the body was the essential connection between the living and the dead and needed to be properly prepared for their journey in the Afterlife. Their bodies were prepared and their tombs were supplied with food and drink. Pharaohs were believed to be the most deserving to go to the Afterlife along with other important Egyptians. Not many other people especially, common people or slaves were believed to get to go. Therefore, due to its origin and the importance the Egyptians placed on it, the Afterlife is considered an Egyptian legacy.

The Afterlife is considered an important legacy of ancient Egypt due to its contribution. The Egyptians thought that the bodies had to be preserved in the next life. They used to mummify the bodies for the next life (afterlife) by removing organs and fluids then filling the bodies back up with preservatives and finally wrapping them up. The Afterlife was used in religious ceremonies by priests where they told people that they could live forever if they were sent to the Afterlife. The purpose of the Afterlife is just death, and explaining it as a journey to a new life. The Pharaoh was the most important person in life and was the most important person in the Afterlife as well. As has been noted, the Afterlife explained death and what happens.

The Afterlife is considered an important legacy of ancient Egypt due to its significance. The Afterlife is important because of how it has affected us today. If you think about it, traditions involving the Afterlife from ancient Egypt are used now like, funerals. Egyptian ceremonies are mostly like our funerals today. Like the Egyptians the bodies of people important to us are respectfully cared for and sometimes even buried with items that were important when they were living. In ancient Egypt funerals were called the Ceremony of Opening the Mouth. The priest would touch the mummy and adze to restore the life force to them. The ceremony showed that people cared about the dead person. Therefore, traditions today reflect upon ancient Egypt traditions.

Even though there are several legacies of ancient Egypt this Is why I think the afterlife is important. The origin, contribution and significance all impacted and changed how we live. Most is because of the afterlife's significance and how it is so similar to today.
