The 12 screens to follow contain a number of Tool descriptions, some instructions on their use, and in some cases a Task or two. SetUp You’ll notice that a new course homepage is a mostly a blank page. The first set of Tasks with any new course homepage might involve uploading some Images (Photos), and adding some Links. After this is done, you can modify your homepage to display the new information. You can only upload and approve Photos and enable Links if you have the Manage Photos and Manage Links under the Content Tools menu. The course Leader needs to approve any Link submissions before they are displayed on the Links page. If you have the Manage Links privilege, you can activate, inactivate, or delete submitted links. In addition, students can find a mail link to the course instructor(s) in the Course Info block on the homepage. News News items are displayed within the Course News channel on the homepage. Clicking on a News item title links you to the full news article. Message Board A set of Message Board topics is available in the Message Board Topics channel on the homepage. Access to the Message Board itself is through the Message Board link, the More Topics… link, or by following a Message Board item title link in the channel (initially, most message Topics have been created by the Course Leader). Users post new Topics by following the Post a Topic link; messages are read by clicking on their title. If you have the appropriate privileges, you can edit the Message Board description by clicking the Edit Description button. Files Clicking the Files menu item gives access to files and folders. Folders are opened by clicking the arrow beside the appropriate folder. Clicking a folder name opens the folder, and displays any files within the folder. Note that you can Search for folders from this page. Calendar Every course has a Calendar, available from the course homepage and from the drop-down selector in a user’s Calendar application. By default, class times will be indicated, as well as any items that have been added by anyone with the calendar edit privilege. If you have the Manage Calendars privilege, you can add Tasks and Events.
