The information contained herein is subject to change without notice. 2 Automatically control a planned change An Oracle administrator who adds an instance of Oracle version 11g to a lab environment may want to:  Discover Oracle instances and the Linux servers that host them.  Configure a baseline policy specifying that all Oracle instances must be version 11g or later.  Define and manage a view with an Oracle instance connected to a Linux server.  Define an automatic authorization rule that checks for direct and container relationships between an RFC and changed or added CIs.  Push CIs in Actual state from UCMDB to Service Manager.

Service ManagerConfiguration Manager Open an RFC 1 Evaluate changes 5 Mark changes as reviewed 6 UCMDB The RFC is approved and implemented according to the predefined workflow. 2 Update the data repository 4 Approve and implement the RFC 2 In UCMDB, run Universal Discovery to populate the UCMDB database with CIs. 3 The new Oracle instance that was discovered is added to the data repository in Service Manager. 4 In CM, the following items are evaluated: A change to the Linux server (added relation). An added Oracle instance (version 11g). Validation of no configuration breach. Existence of a corresponding RFC. In CM, the following items are evaluated: A change to the Linux server (added relation). An added Oracle instance (version 11g). Validation of no configuration breach. Existence of a corresponding RFC. 5 Update the RFC with change data 7 CM uses authorization rules to automatically mark the changes as reviewed. 6 CM adds two entries to the RFC activity log (one for the Linux server and one for the Oracle instance), indicating the new configuration that has been captured and reviewed. 7 Close the RFC 8 Run Universal Discovery 3 The RFC is closed when all steps in the workflow have been completed. 8
