Big question - Which fruit and vegetable conducts the most electricity ?

Hypothesis - Fruits - a green apple because it is round, acidic and fat. Vegetable - a lemon because it is sour and has lots of acid in it .

Interesting facts A lemon can only produce about only one milliamp. A tingle felt on your tongue is due to the movements of electrons. If you connect two lemons it can power a expensive watch. Electrons are collected at one side and lost at the same time . A lemon battery is called a voltaic battery.

Experiment - Materials – Lemons Green apple One galvanized nail Penny/Copper wire Four alligator clips A holiday light that has a five centimeter light connected.

Detailed step by step instructions for vegetable - First take a lemon and roll it gently on a table to get its inside mashed up without breaking its skin Then take a galvanized nail and a penny or copper wire and stick it into the lemon . After that remove the insulation from the holiday light . Finally wrap the wire around the nail and penny or copper wire and use alligator clips to keep it on.

Detailed step by step instructions for vegetable -

Step by step instructions for fruit - First take a green apple and roll it gently on a table to get its inside mashed up without breaking its skin Then take a galvanized nail and a penny or copper wire and stick it into the green apple . After that remove the insulation from the holiday light . Finally wrap the wire around the nail and penny or copper wire and use alligator clips to keep it on. I repeated the experiment using orange instead of apple.

Control/variables - I would like to add a multimeter and measure the volt of a lemon, grapefruit and orange and then try to light the light bulb . I would also like to take out the green apple because it does not have enough juice to conduct electricity .

Observations - When I used one lemon I could fell a light tingling sensation but with two lemons it was a little stronger . When I used the three lemons the light lighted up a little.

Data - With one lemon the light bulb would not light up but I could feel a tingling sensation. With two lemons light still did not light up but could feel electrons on my tongue . With one green apple the light bulb would not light up but I could feel a tingling sensation.

Analysis of data - Both a green apple and lemon did not conduct electricity required to light up a small bulb. The apple did not produce enough electrons as they were escaping. The lemon did not have enough current to power a bulb.

Conclusion - My hypothesis was correct to think that A lemon conducts electricity A green apple does not conduct electricity An orange also conducts electricity
