This method of characterization is the reader’s description of the character’s attitude The character’s attitude is how the character appears to feel about what is happening to him or her in the story This is similar to how you may describe your attitude if you were in a similar situation Attitude/Appearance
When you first meet a real person, you form judgments about that person You might say “he’s nice,” or “She’s friendly.” Nice and Friendly are examples of character traits. The are words that we use to describe a person’s “character” or personality Character Traits
Dialogue The way in which a character talks Includes choice of words, tone and syntax Is the character shy? Sarcastic? Serious? Obnoxious? All these qualities (and more) can be conveyed through the characters’ dialogue Dialogue

A character can be analyzed by looking at an action or incident and how it affected them or how they reacted to it What action did the character take when confronted with a certain situation? Is there an incident in the character’s past that has shaped them and affected the way they look at their life?
