Practice Atmosphere Purpose of incorporating drills is to teach students the rules, regulations, and how to play the game Practice type atmosphere to ensure learning capabilities Different drills will help students with different situations they may encounter

Dribbling drill -This drill will be practiced almost everyday to keep track in logs- Students will start on baseline with a partner and 1 ball. The first student will dribble the length of the court and back, then pass it to their partner. Each day they will be timed and recorded in the students’ log.

Warm Up drill One player will serve the ball to his/her partner who traps the ball with the necessary part of their body. Variations can be made by the Teacher, for example, distance between partners, or serving with different foot.

Dog Fights! Dog Fights is a great activity for young students. On the teacher’s command, the first player on each team will run around the cone in front of their line. As each student approaches his/her cone, the teacher plays a 50/50 ball in between the cones. The two students battle for possession and get a shot on goal.

WORLD CUP Great Game for Everyone! Confusing at first, but every student will love it! A game played inside of the penalty box with 5 teams of 3. Each team plays the same time against the other teams. The team that scores first sits out the remainder of the round and advance to the next round. The last team to score in each round is out of the tournament. Many variations can be added to this game, like pass limits. It is crowned World Cup because each team can pick any country to play as. Before each goal is scored, players should yell out the name of their country in order to be counted.

Formations on the Playing Field Towards the beginning of week, students will participate in a ‘walk- through’ to get an idea of what being on the field looks like. I will explain goalie, defenders, midfielders, and forwards.

Staying in Positions At this age, it is hard to teach students positions and lanes used in soccer. Young kids have a habit of following the ball, instead of staying in their spot. This activity helps students move up and back on the field depending on where the ball is.

Is Soccer Popular? Soccer is a growing sport in the US and worldwide. If we can get young students to get involved with a sport at a young age, they will be more likely to stick with it. Here are graphs taken from 3 rd graders, and you can see the results.
