LIFE SCIENCE

Each group can create an explanation of what you think this is. A scientist would pay special attention to details to see if it resembles anything we already know. Feel free to create a name for the model. WHAT AM I??????

Each group should decide on a spokesperson and typist. Get ready get set… 5 minutes …Go!!!! Group 1’s explanation: Group 2’s explanation: Group 3’s explanation: Group 4’s explanation: Group 5’s explanation: Group 6’s explanation:

Textbook page 114 Today, you are going to be able to define protozoa. Identify where you can find protozoa. Identify the characteristics of protozoa. Name 3 types based on the way they move.

Definition: for your notes Your textbook states that Protozoa are unicellular and a eukaryote meaning it has complex structures enclosed in a membrane. Protozoa comes from the Greek ”proton” meaning “first” and “zoa” meaning “animals.”

Does anyone know of any other one cell living things? What word in the definition means one cell? What is a membrane like? What does it do? Do you have any membranes? If so, what are they?

Information Stations You are going to rotate among 5 information stations. Each station has directions concerning what the purpose is for that station. There is a timer that will be set for 15 minutes. You will rotate to another station at the sound of the timer. You only need to choose 4 of the 5 stations.

Name ___________________ Date_______________ PROTOZOA WORKSHEET

You only need to choose 4 stations. When you hear the timer, please move with your team to the next station in number order. Station 1 has textbooks available for research. Station 2 has a computer to research the topic. Station 3 has a computer to view 2 videos. Station 4 is an art area to draw 3 types protozoa on your worksheet; label the motile part the makes it unique and defines the type of protozoa it is. Station 5 has many other resources. Be creative! Use these in a way to learn something additional or make something to present to the class.

A picture of the worksheet will be in this space. Name ______________________ Date ____________ Protozoa Worksheet
