{ Musical Theater “To equip students with the tools necessary to become marketable and well-rounded musical theater artists.” For Information Contact:

  The Musical Theater program values and integrates:   A liberal arts education in combination with rigorous technical foundations in acting, singing, and dancing that will contribute to our graduates’ professional aspirations in musical theater.   An understanding of the importance and impact of the American Musical Theater in addressing important historical and contemporary social issues.   Performance opportunities that encourage students to apply skills developed in studio classes.   Master classes and workshops that bring students in direct contact with leading musical theater professionals working locally and nationally   Educational, internship and networking experiences that extend beyond the University of Washington’s campus and introduce students to the range of career opportunities within the Musical Theater industry. Our Values & Program

  The Musical Theater curriculum is designed to be completed in 2 years and to cultivate and nurture the artistry of highly motivated students who wish to develop their combined talent as singers, actors, and dancers. Students who major in the degree, may elect to find a second major on campus, and are expected to integrate fully their rigorous training as musical theater artists with the outstanding liberal arts education they receive at the University of Washington.   Study begins with core studio classes in acting, singing and dancing, ear training, musical theater history and stagecraft, and culminates with a capstone course that helps prepare students for entry into the Musical Theater profession. Students learn to think rationally, creatively and critically and to communicate clearly and persuasively, while obtaining valuable vocational skills. Curriculum & Study
