Levi Strauss Levi Strauss was a German businessman who founded the first company to manufacture blue jeans. His firm, Levi Strauss & Co., began in 1853 in San Francisco, California. Born February 26, 1829 in Buttenheim as Löb Strauss, died August 26, 1902 in San Francisco. Levi Strauss was born in Buttenheim on February 26-1829, in the region of Bavaria, Germany. John Logie Baird John Logie Baird (14 August 1888 – 14 June 1946) was a Scottish engineer and inventor of the world's first practical, publicly demonstrated television system, and also the world's first fully electronic colour television tube. Although Baird's electromechanical system was eventually displaced by purely electronic systems, Baird's early successes demonstrating working television broadcasts and his color and cinema television work earn him a prominent place in television's invention.
