Buckingham Palace

About Buckingham Palace  Residence and workplace of the monarchy of the United Kingdom.  Located in the City of Westminster.  Originally known as Buckingham House.  Buckingham Place has 775 rooms this includes 19 State rooms, 52 Royal and guest bedrooms, 188 staff bedrooms, 92 offices and 78 bathrooms

Buckingham Palace History  George III bought Buckingham House in 1761 for his wife Queen Charlotte.  To use it as a comfortable family home.  In 1762 for £ they remodelled the house.  George IV reconstructed it to a weekend house in  It costed £ , but the original budget was £

 By 1829 the cost had escalated to a nearly half a million pounds.  It became the royal residence in 1837 when Queen Victoria’s accession to the Throne.  In 1847 the couple thought that the place where too small for the court and their growing family.

Trafalgar Square

About Trafalgar Square  Trafalgar Square is an open place in the center of London.  The North side = Museum National Gallery and church St Martin-in-the- fields.  The South side = White hall.  Trafalgar Square connects to the main street via The Mall through Admiralty Arch.  The Middle = A Statue of Lord Nelson called ”Nelson’s Column”  In each corner = A statue of a man riding a horse.

The History of Trafalgar Square  Planned in the 1820s completed in  Named after a memorial to the Battle of Trafalgar a Brittish victory at sea.  From 1947 each christmas a Norwegian christmas tree is placed on the square.  Given as a gift from the Norwegian State.
