5 CHOICES ON ADVERTS Presentation

1 st Ad – Thierry Mugler My first T.V advertisement choice is called Thierry Mugler's Angel - (Eau de Toilette Fragrance). There are many reasons for this choice and it being a favourite. So firstly I will talk about the Form of the advert, I would say that the advert has been put together very well, in the sense of form I would that say the advert includes elements of anti - realism in it, for example the train could be portrayed as a form of anti - realism, because there is no train such as that in no such place, also when she is dreaming the thoughts of her whirling in an open quiet space and being so at one because of this one perfume. In the sense of it being a realist advert, you see that she gets on a train and she is dreaming what she see's, for it all to be the perfume. I would say that the advert is surreal, because for me it includes a mix of realism and fantasy. It combines the two very well to create an enticing advert. I think that the advert gives the sense of a non existent life style in the advert, a laid back and relaxed calm life when you wear this perfume. I would say that the music for me really plays a huge part of this advert, simply because of the lyrics 'round like a circle in a spiral, like a wheel within a wheel, never ending or beginning on an ever spinning reel'. The lyrics are there for a significance, to imply that when you wear this perfume, its full of all these different things, that it is full of lust and passion. The music works very well with the lyrics, it is taken from the piano version of the song and interpreted into a huge orchestra of different instruments. The music is very dreamy and works really well with the actual advert. So all in all the music side to the advert is very good. Overall I think that the advert is a good one and will be a huge success. Weebly

2 nd Ad – Skoda Kia My second T.V advertisement choice is called The Skoda Fabia Advert. There are many reasons for this choice and it being a favourite. So firstly I will talk about the form of the advert, I would say that the advert is a realist narrative because it did actually happen. I think that the style of the advert is real, it's not really anything else. In this advert there were no special effects required, it was all done manually. The techniques in the advert, there are not many techniques in the advert. Well there are some, the technique of combining the music and the work together goes well, the actual technique of them showing the people who make the 'cake car'. I would say that the style of the advert is pretty real. I would say a good technique they used in particularly was the music, the music would have been chosen pretty specifically according to the theme of the advert. So the choice of music comes form the famous - 'The Sound of Music', a part of the lyrics go such as - 'raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens, bright copper kettles and warm woollen mittens'. I would say that when choosing the piece of music the lyrics are key, so these lyrics kind of speak out as to what is being made in the advert, - bright copper kettles - referring to the lights maybe and warm woollen mittens' - referring to the heating, or interior. Next is the social position for the people it is aimed at, I would say that would be middle class' intermediate managerial, administrative or professional', because, its an affordable and well known make, for people who are looking simple and nippy cars Next

3 rd Ad – CoCo Pops My third T.V advertisement is CoCo Pops, the first thing that I will talk about is the form of the advert. I would say that the form of the advert is real in the sense of the fact it would be 'real' in a child's imagination. The form of the advert is an animation. For the codes and conventions side of things, I think that they have to make it watchable to a family audience. The special effects required would be the animation skills. It was computer based designing. Techniques, I think that the main technique that they use anyway is the animation. They use animals as characters, the animals they use is a monkey, a hippo,, and a giraffe and a crocodile. They also have a very well known coco pops theme tune, you should of had a bowl of coco pops'. The theme tune has been associated with coco pops for many years now and will continue to be with a few tweaks now and then. I would say that would be middle class' This advert would have passed the rules and regulation of the ASA, seeing as it has become a huge success. Next

4 th Ad – Herbal Essences My fourth advert that I am now going to talk about is a Herbal Essences advert, I would say that the form of the advert is very much real, because you can see that she is talking right at you, and they are selling the product. In the advert there were no special effects really required except maybe for the enhancements of the actual advert. The techniques used in the advert would be the main one used - a talking head, a talking head is basically generally a celebrity, talking right into the camera, directly to the audience. It sells the product a lot more to the audience. Another huge technique they use is the celebrity endorsement. This promotes the product, when there is an a class celebrity on the scene. There is no music as such, however they do use sound effects depending on the location, in which case is quite an eastern feel. Overall I think that is a pretty good advert. Next

5 th Ad – THINK! My fifth and final advert is a Think and don't drive commercial, the form of the advert is very much real. It is a factual advert, teaching you things whilst watching an entertaining performance as some may say. (no special effects used for this advert). I guess that it is another talking head essentially, talking towards its target audience, enticing them in the sense of watching it quite intently. Techniques used, a changing character, the lighting is very good because the lighting is just focused on his face which means that you pay more attention to it. Finish
