Trig ratios of acute angles: You will be able to state the 6 trig ratios for an acute triangle and solve related problems. Reciprocal Trig Functions

Reciprocal Trig Ratios The reciprocal trig ratios are defined as 1 divided by the primary trig ratios. Csc θ = 1/sin θ = H/O Sec θ = 1/Cos θ = H/A Cot θ = 1/tanθ = A/O These are not on calculators so use these definitions to solve.

Problem State the 6 trig ratios for A A C B

Problem From a position some distance away from the base of a tree, Sam uses a clinometer to determine the angle of elevation to a treetop is 16.7 degrees. The height of the tree is 3.0 m. how far, to the nearest tenth of a metre is Sam from the base? Use cot 16.7 to get the unknown on the numerator.
