Is Edification a Work of the Church? Importance  sin can result if misunderstood Edification (noun)  a building – literal, figurative Oikodome (edification): A Building “Jesus came out from the temple and was going away when His disciples came up to point out the temple buildings to Him” (Matt. 24:1). “For we are God's fellow workers; you are God's field, God's building” (1 Cor. 3:9).
