December 7, 2013 Chief Gary’s Childrens Christmas Party

A Christmas Celebration By: David L. Devaney The children all were gathering With great anticipation Chief Gary had invited them To a Christmas celebration He called his elves from cross the isle Then lists were given out Of all the kids in Surfside Beach The tall the thin the short the stout Their numbers kept on growing more It mattered not how much For Gary and his helpers all With joy each heart would touch

One by one request’s would come Each child had a dream Then magically the elves all saw The morning sunlight stream Onto this little Texas town Now full with fantasy Where hearts on Christmas beat as one Besides the Texas Sea And every child with a wish Chief Gary would fulfill On Saturday at Stahlman Park He’d happiness Instill So Merry Christmas everyone From Gary and his crew We hope you find this coming year That all your dreams come true!

‘Twas several weeks before the Christmas holidays…….. And the children of Surfside Beach were asking their parents for special gifts at Christmas time. Chief Gary heard their cries and put out an “all call” for toys, and treats, bikes, and dolls, lego’s and c.d.’s, and cookies to eat. “Call the schools, get the bus drivers, talk to the moms and dads, we have to get toys and treats for these kids....otherwise, the children of Surfside Beach will be so sad!

Stockings filled with apples and oranges, teddy bears and monkeys too…Let’s not forget the hot chocolate, brownies, cupcakes, and gifts wrapped for each of you!

Christmas songs were playing and a movie was too! Sitting on the floor, anxiously waiting, the kids listened carefully to Christmas stories anew!

Excitement, anticipation, and smiles galore………it doesn’t matter where you looked that’s what you saw when you scanned the floor!

No matter what the age or time of day, all of these kiddo’s were here to stay!

Good times, great fun, many laughs, and more to come!

With a ‘Ho, Ho, Ho,’ and a ring of the bell Santa and Ms. Claus gave out gifts and wished each child well!

A Village, Chief Gary, and Happy Children!

It’s all about community!

A Surfside Christmas By: David L. Devaney With just hours till Christmas In Surfside I’m told Great waves on white beaches Do treasures unfold And the sea emerald green Does its beauty display As the crabs and sea urchins All come out to play The pelicans soar To the tops of each dune And the winds silent whisper As carols they croon Then the sunlight does sparkle And bring forth the dawn

As the angels with stardust Through the night move along Then the dolphins do glide In the waves near the beach As they’re chasing the redfish All just out of reach And the children exclaim To the fisherman there There’s wonderment here That Surfside does share Then as the tide settles And turns back to sea This day they call Christmas Begins happily!

THANK YOU! Many thanks to everyone and each business that donated time, money, supplies, and their support for the success of this event! It truly takes a village to raise our children and on December 7, 2013 we demonstrated our commitment, hearts, and values for all of the right reasons……our kiddo’s!

From Chief Gary and his elves: “Merry Christmas to all and to all a Good Night”!
