Since 1998 clickers have been used at universities/colleges, The “clicker” looks like a TV remote, uses radio frequency to record responses to a portable station, e.g., PowerPoint. Uses: –Facilitate discussion by polling students' opinions and discussing the reasons for their opinions –Records attendance in large lecture classes and decreases grading time by collecting student answers to exams/quizzes –Shown to increase students' attention/interests and increases participation –Collects immediate feedback about students' understanding of lecture topics so confusion can be addressed quickly –Allows students to share, discuss, and change their opinions before answering a question –Collects data on course topics or learning preferences throughout the cycle of a course, and also increases the student’s retention of the material –Can be purchased online, or in bookstores/ any office supply store at around $35 dollars lickers&oe=UTF-8&um=1&ie=UTF- 8&sa=N&tab=wf&oi=property_suggestions&resnum=0&ct=property-revision&cd=1 –Links:

Books have been the primary source of literature for many years until online databases were created. Books were expensive and the primary housing was a library. The cost of building such libraries and hiring many employees to maintain the library was not as cost effective as online databases. Online databases made much easier for libraries to house books online, which meant that costs of running a library would decrease. Online databases store books online for the users to go and download Many Universities host much of the material they have online, for example the University of Arizona has its own library site, Library Webpage, which has many resources such as Ereserve an online articles database and also other links to text from books etc. Online databases have made educational texts much more available to students and have lessened the need to go to your local library because everything can be done from home.Library Webpage A great example of a online book database is HalfBakery’s website. It is a huge online database that has been used for over 5 years. HalfBakeryHalfBakery
