Task one Creating a basic Photoshop repeat using one motif
Stage 1. Using Macbooks and Photoshop Log in using username on card Password will be:
Stage 2. Scanning drawings Access folder with scanned A3 drawings Follow instructions on scanner to scan sketchbook drawings
Stage 3. Opening scans in Photoshop File – open – find file OR drag file onto icon Crop image so that just the part you plan to use is visible
Stage 4. Cleaning up scans Use the ERASER tool to get rid of marks and mistakes (change the HARDNESS, OPACITY AND FLOW) Edit – Adjustments try changing the BRIGHNESS/CONTRAST and HUE/SATURATION Make selections use the polygonal lasso tool to choose larger areas to clear
Stage 5. Repeat your motif Edit – define pattern - ok Open new A4 page File – new – international paper – A4 Go to layers palette and create new fill or adjustment layer and select PATTERN Try out different scales and then click ok
Task Two Creating a placement print using several motifs
Stage 1. Open new A4 page (see previous slide) Open 2-3 drawings Crop drawings and erase parts you do not want
Stage 2 Select drawing using selection tools: Magic wand - Select inverse for use when background is white Polygonal lasso to select a particular area of a drawing Copy and paste onto blank A4 page Edit – copy Edit - paste
Stage 3 Free transform Cmnd T right Click Choose scale, rotate, distort, flip etc
Stage 4 Layers palette – bottom right corner When you paste on drawings they will appear as new layers Swap order – drag layers to change order Opacity Change opacity to make the selected layer translucent Duplicate layer Ctrl click and select DUPLICATE LAYER
Stage 5. Edit layers Experiment with the following: Image – Adjustments (curves, levels, hue/saturation, etc) Blending modes (on layers palette) Filters
