Most of the original National Parks and the National Park system were created by Roosevelt. He was the first President to ride in an airplane. He flew for four minutes in a plane built by the Wright Brothers on October 11, 1910. His head is on Mt. Rushmore. After he left office, he went on a African Safari.

He designated the first 51 federal bird reservations, 5 National Parks, the first National Monuments, the first 4 National Game Preserves, and the 1st Reclamation Projects. He provided federal protection for almost 230 million acres, from Florida to Maine.

Final Thoughts I learned many facts about Theodore Roosevelt. He made our country better in so many ways! I think that doing Theodore Roosevelt on this project was fun and interesting! I would like to do him again! I found out that he was a leader for many different things. I learned he created some national parks and the teddy bear! After I did this project, Theodore Roosevelt is one of my favorite presidents.
